GTUB 214: E-Business (DL)

This course examines the application of electronic business (e-business) technologies and digital platforms in procurement and supply chain management. It explores how organizations use information systems, electronic procurement (e-procurement), enterprise resource planning (ERP), electronic data interchange (EDI), blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and digital marketplaces to improve procurement efficiency, supplier relationships, inventory management, logistics, and overall supply chain performance.

The course also discusses digital transformation strategies, cybersecurity, electronic payment systems, sustainable supply chains, and the challenges of implementing e-business solutions in both local and global supply chain environments. Students will develop practical and analytical skills required to manage modern digital procurement and supply chain systems effectively.

General Course Objectives

By the end of the course, students should be able to:

  1. Explain the concepts and principles of e-business in procurement and supply chain management.
  2. Analyze the role of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in procurement operations.
  3. Evaluate electronic procurement systems and digital supply chain platforms.
  4. Apply e-business tools to improve supplier management, inventory control, and logistics coordination.
  5. Examine the use of ERP, EDI, blockchain, AI, and cloud technologies in supply chain integration.
  6. Assess cybersecurity, ethical, and legal issues in digital procurement systems.
  7. Develop strategies for implementing e-business solutions in organizations.
  8. Evaluate the impact of e-business on supply chain performance, sustainability, and competitiveness.
