CSSD 204: Scripting Languages

CSSD 204: Scripting Languages

This course aims to acquaint students with a variety of scripting languages, including Python and Perl, scripting languages used in a wide variety of contexts, including the extraction of data from documents, creation and formatting of dynamic web pages, collection of information from web pages, description of the types of data used in a document, rapid prototyping of interfaces or one-time applications, and creation of installation scripts. The focus of this course is to get the students well-versed with the usage of scripting languages. The emphasis is on the practical demonstration of the scripting languages. The course is composed two components: Lecture Component, where students are provided the theoretical knowledge behind scripting, and the Practical Component, where students demonstrate the use of the scripting languages. Students are to prepare themselves by practicing with projects using the scripting languages before coming to class each week.

 

PREREQUISITE KNOWLEDGE NEEDED

1. Knowledge of Programming and Problem Solving

2. Knowledge of Programming with C++/Python

3. Knowledge of Data Structures and Algorithms

4. Knowledge of Web Programming and Applications
