First Semester

This course introduces students to the fundamental concepts of computing hardware and software. It presents the computer system as an integrated combination of hardware, software, data, and people, used as a tool for personal and professional problem solving. Students gain foundational knowledge of computer history, classifications, hardware components, operating systems, software categories, data processing, and emerging technologies. Practical hands-on exposure to Microsoft Windows applications is emphasized to build essential digital skills. The course also addresses ethical, legal, and security issues in computing, laying a strong foundation for advanced computing studies.

This course is the study of quadratic, polynomial, rational, logarithmic, and exponential functions and includes the study of systems of equations and matrices. The focus of the course is the discovery and application of algebraic techniques, including graphing, to solve related equations. Additional topics may include sequences and series.

Topics of study include algebraic equations and inequalities, absolute value, polynomial, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions, conic sections, systems of equations and inequalities, matrices, and determinants.
